I used to have a SUB fretless and I thought it sounded a lot like the original pre-EB Stingrays which to my ear, were very warm and round sounding but still retained some bite.

Do the Sterling by MusicMan basses sound more like the modern Stingrays or are they more like the SUB basses from a few years ago?

This question is for anyone who has played or heard one BTW.

I tried out a Ray34 last weekend and found them to sound super close to the modern EBMM StingRay in tone and playability.

That being said the EQ does let you get some very warmish tones.

I think these are great instruments. I would highly recommend them. In fact, I am thinking of getting a Ray35 to have a 5 String in the bullpen :)

Good luck.
