Thanks! I have a bunch of MF credit so I was thinking about picking one up there and they don't seem to have any idea about stock status and it's not listed on their site.

We just took delivery of our first 2016 NAMM order today, I'm sure the other stores are also working as hard as they can to get the new products on their respective websites. I'll get pictures of the white cutlass up later this afternoon, it's pretty cool.

Can't wait to see pics! I'd love to hear your take on it compared to the EBMM version.

From a uk perspective, you need to have more presence in stores. Theres no demo instruments to try and the same goes for the EBMM range. Every one who has tried my silo special loves it, surely its got to be worth a try.

Awesome photos! Is that pickgaurd mint green or parchment? Any idea how close the color matches the EBMM version?

It's a mint pickguard that closely matches the mint hardware & pickup covers on the Turquoise EBMM we have here.

Hell, Pete, you made my day! Can´t wait to hear your opinion on the SBMM-Ctlss
Thanks for showing the pics!

Glad to help! Both guitars play much like the other, with the biggest difference being in how they sound. The neck on both starts with a slight V at the first fret and smooths out around frets 5-7.

Soundwise the EBMM is louder than the SBMM, has more dynamics (not as compressed sounding) and seems a bit brighter. It is possible that the SBMM version simply has more upper midrange response which could make the EBMM appear to be brighter without that truly being the case, as the SBMM has a nice & fat sounding low end that rounds out nicely.

The neck on the SBMM is in general a little wider and thinner than the EBMM version. The EBMM is a bit lighter, coming in at 7lb 4.3oz with alder body compared to the SBMM at 8lb 0.9oz with basswood body.

Neck specs for those who are curious:

SBMM radius 12"
EBMM radius 10"

SBMM nut width 1.658"
EBMM nut width 1.642"

SBMM 12th fret width 2.065"
EBMM 12th fret width 2.035"

SBMM depth 1st fret 0.839"
EBMM depth 1st fret 0.879"

SBMM depth 12th fret 0.967"
EBMM depth 12th fret 0.974

SBMM Body thickness 1.672"
EBMM Body thickness 1.635"

I got my StingRay today... it arrived at my local GC this morning and they unboxed it right there... i was on lunch and couldn't take it with me to the office... but they threw away the trem arm and tools... any way to get a replacement?

Anyone know what HSC would fit?

Pete, that looks well nice. Let us know your thoughts on the Stingray SBMM when you get one in.
And Steevo is right, UK wise, there really only is one shop that seems to carry good stock and that's Project Music

Think Johnny ALien had his EBMM Stingray hardcase up for sale. Don't know if anyone bought it yet

I do indeed still have mine for sale. It will be about the best fit you can get and even says "StingRay" on the case. :)

That is great news about the StV! I will probably get an EBMM eventually but wouldn't mind getting a more affordable one to play for awhile.

Thanks Pete for the comparison. More differences in the specs than I thought.
The differences in weight and sound were expectable. I mean there has to be differences. Still can´t wait to see the prices for both EBMM and SBMM in Germany.
The SBMM colors are very sweet (Fiesta Red!!!... drool...)

I was shocked to find out these are made in China. I thought all of the SbMM line was Indonesian. Even the Sub guitars I saw were Indonesian.

Why shocked? Lots of things are made in China today.

Are you thinking quality control will suffer? Remember, these are getting the EBMM and Sterling stamp of approval before they go out to market.

1. I am shocked because (as stated) I assumed all sterlings were made in Indonesia. Even the SUB line is made there.

2. Yea, Indonesian made is usually a step up.

3. MM licenses manufacturing but does not check every guitar. They licensed to OLP too.

We brought three factories online to augment our production, and all three are dedicated to only our (Praxis) production. Two in China, and one in Korea.

We're very busy!

Another note: We (Praxis) do all of the Setups, Inspections, Repairs, Warranty Service on every one of the Sterling By Music Man instruments here in house at our facilities in Orange, CA.
Yes, all of the instruments go through a very rigorous prototype stage which involves the EBMM engineering crew (who are not only fantastic craftsmen/designers, they are consummate professionals). Additionally for Artist instruments, they are deeply involved in the process as well and receive the samples to critique and provide input so we can 'finesse' them exactly to their liking. It's a pretty amazing process to be part of. The care that goes into creating the SBMM versions is quite stunning. We (Praxis), are always mindful of the expectation that our instruments need to perform at, regardless of price point. I think our relationship with EBMM is not only unique, but a very special one. It's nice to be even a small part of the brand family.

A little insight into the world of SBMM :)

Wow Brian - THANKS for sharing that information with us! Really cool to see just how much care goes into your instruments and EBMM's involvement.
