Not trying to start the old flats vs rounds debate here as I do believe they both have their pros and cons but I just love the tone of my trans-orange/maple Sterling with flats:D :D Any other fans and what tone settings do you like to use?

bonzo, what brand flats are you using?

TI jazzbass JF 344's. Admittedly the only ones I ever tried but I love'm. They're a bit more expensive but flats get better with age. I have to put the disclaimer in here. I love the feel and tone but I'm playing here in the house not gigging. I'm sure there are plenty of members that play out with them and will share their opinions on that

If you guys can produce a short sound clip of how they sound it would be great. At the moment i'm really happy with my DR hi-beam rounds. In the past i have made a post that my G/D strings sounded week, and that's when i sought to try flats. But it turned out that i had EQ'ing problems with my rig, and trust me, the bass is growling again.

however, having said that, i am curious how flats sound (especially when playing higher notes and slap/pop)

I can't help you with the clip as I have yet to set myself up with a home "studio"
but I see you do have some offers. It's just personal preference on that long search for the "tone"!!

and listen to " FlatSTone "

it's 3 tracks of my Flatwound strung Bongo5, the bass line and melody is the neck p/u soloed, the chordal line is both p/u's full up.

no eq'ing, just straight out of the XLR out of my PJB Briefcase and into my M-Box
