anyone have any idea what the difference in sound is, if any, between a sterling hs and a stingray hs(4-string only) ? i know it probably is only slight, or subjective for the most part, but i am curious of anyones feelings on this. thanks, rick

I hope this is right.

Some of it is just my opinion.

H/S StingRay-larger body and neck, wired in parallel, and alnico pickup mags

H/S Sterling, smaller offset body and slimmer neck, wired in series, ceramic pickup mags

To my ears, the parallel wiring (in the SR) is a good bit more open sounding. Its the classic StingRay sound. Big lows, mids, and crisp highs (if desired)

The series setting seems to be fuller and more aggressive in the mid range. Has a bit more cutting sound and a more refined top end.
