I'm seriously considering getting a Sterling HS but wondering about the weight. To those of you with this bass, what does your baby weigh?

Thank you!

Hey Lisa, they all vary between 8 and 10. If you want a light one you will need to either play it yourself or have somebody weigh it for you before they sell it to you. Kind of the luck of the draw on weight.

Thanks, Paul. I was trying to do an unscientific poll to see if the average of what people have is in the appropriate range for me. An earlier thread on the HS got me all interested, but I thought I'd check this one thing first.

I agree with Paul, I've had Sterlings from 8.4 lbs to just a hair over 10 lbs. The nice thing is that they seem more reliably light than Stingrays, some of those reached almost 12 lbs and I've only ever had two that were under 9 lbs.

The only HS Sterling I've had was 9.2 lbs.

Lisa,
Mine weighs 10lbs, but feels a lot lighter, I guess because of balance and size. I'm pretty particular about weight - 8 lbs is just right for me, but I've played 4 sets with the Sterling HS with no trouble at all. And the tones are well worth the extra pounds, too.

Thanks, guys! That's helpful. Glad to hear about the balance, Jim, that is important. I just may take the plunge.

i have one of each Sterling... my HS is the lightest. yup, lighter than the 2 single H's i have. its really luck of the draw... wood is unpredictable as far as weight goes. if you must have a light one either 1) play it before you buy or 2) buy from a reputable online dealer and ask em to weight it (or at least compare it to others they have in stock)

good luck!

the HS Sterling will NOT disappoint. my fav bass ever... easily!
