I have a BFR JP6, a JP50 and a DD2 JP7 on the way. Yes, you'll be happy. I needed to have it set up professionally to get it where I wanted (I tried myself, but don't know what the bleep I'm doing yet). I have it de-tuned to C Standard for some of the songs on BC&SL and it sounds great. Pickups are a tad too hot & fizzy, but you can EQ it out or replace them (that's my plan). Pat put the new JP pups in his and says it sounds great!

At half the price of a used JP, it's one heck of a guitar. I'm not a shreader so the thin neck does nothing for me but for my general playing, I've tried every SBMM guitar and liked the JP far more than any of the others. If you play a SBMM JP and an EBMM JP back to back, you will definately notice the differences. If you just take the SBMM with you and play it by itself, you'll like it a lot.

My buddy in NY has had many, many Silo's (Real thing) and he was telling me that he prefers the Sterling Silo better, has like 3 or 4 of them.

Texas Finally!
Hendog have not tried one but bet its fine especially for the price, might as well just give it a shot, there was one on ebay rather cheap IMO.

How is the trem system?
the trem bridge is a 2 post tremelo w/ large solid saddles (not the bent vintage style saddles).

the arm is a slightly larger diameter and has a set screw to tighten the tension.

the height is set by the 2 posts, final radius is set individually on each saddle.

good quality bridge that works well with the locking tuners.

Played one the other day and was impressed with the quality. It is worth the price. I might pick one up on the used market and slap my original JP pickups in it that were replaced by the new JP pups I just installed...

Does it have the same neck dimentions and fretboard size/feel from the real JP?

How are the stock pups?

Nut width: 1.65" (42mm)
fingerboard radius 16" (400mm)
19.3mm thickness at first fret (0.76")
20.8mm thickness at 12th fret (0.81")

The neck dimensions are a little different from the USA version, but pretty close.

The stock pickups are hot output, I would compare them to a distortion style humbucker. good output, bright, works well with gain. Certainly not vintage voiced pickup.

Hope the info helps.

Thanks
Pat

slightly off topic

I bought an AX40 with a beautiful quilt and I was very surprised at the quality of this guitar. I would have to think that the rest of the SBMM line must be just as good.

Just ordered one a few minutes ago!
damn only a few have passed im getting exited.

It'll be my first MusicMan guitar. :D

--------
though it hurts a bit in the pocket:
Item+shipping cost and customs in the philippines

my bet it would be definitely worth it!
since no music stores here are selling them,
hopefully become one of the first Sterling Musicman users in my country!

hahhaha!

ive been thinking of getting a jp50 as a beater/backup guitar just put the new JP pickups in there. but i could save up afew hundred more and have a used EBMM JP... SBMM are still fairly pricey here in australia...
