Hi everyone..

First timer here so go easy lol...

I recently purchased a near new John Petrucci Majesty Royal Red..my dream guitar!

Really disappointed with it, cant handle any high gain stuff, sounds weak and thin. I can just get a decent sound with a clean amp and a overdrive peadal in front of it which is ok for Rock stuff...

Anyone else had the same experience?
Wondering if I have a fake lol

Texas Finally!
Is it one of the lower end Sterlings or the upgraded ones with locking tuners and DiMarzio pups?

Sterling is not an EBMM made in the USA so show us what you have por favor

It is one of the newer ones with the Locking tuners and Dimarzio pick ups. I have a JP150 and with the same amp settings i have to reduce treble and increase bass to get it to sound similar lol..I tried adding pics but they are to big apparently! Serial number is 191019024

Maybe the Pickups are wired wrong.
I don‘t have a wiring diagram for the sterling majesty. But you could open the electronics cavity and check if the wires are soldered properly and check the wires from the pickups.
If it‘s got the Dimarzio Pickups, it‘s probably wired like the original JP Models. And should have the Dimarzio wire colors.
Could be wired out of phase or coil tapped by accident.
