Sterling neck plate

I have a 1997 sterling, as you know. The neck plate is the one that has the MusicMan logo, with the 2 dudes with the guitars. Not the Ernie Ball MusicMan one with the serial number.

Was this the last year they used those, because here is a 1998 with the other neckplate?

Not sure about the neck plate but that is sweet looking Sterling. What color is that?

It's always been my understanding that the new logo neck plates were introduced at the beginning of 1998 and that this coincidended with the reallocation of the serial from the bridge to the plate.

But Dan (in the serial sticky thread above) says the serials moved to the plates in 1997!!???

Could have been the end of 1997, mine was made in february.
