Yeah looking to purchase one at a local store and they are both identical looking.
Except one has only one battery compartment and the other has two.
Why?

does look OEM, if it's 18v to the pre amp, yikes. . if you call 866 823 2255 and give CS the serial number I'm sure you could get some build history on it. maybe it was custom built for an endorsee. Are both basses used ?

definitely get the serial number from the neck plate and send it in. That looks like it might be one of the stealth black versions, though it might be a one off.

Is it used?

The easiest thing to do is get the serial number and contact Musicman to see how it left the factory. Anything short of that is guessing and purely speculation.

Sure read like you were looking at two. If it's OEM besides being a one off, an 18v Sterling has to be an earth mover.
