I know the different settings, but I'm curious what you all tend to use, for what styles, and why.

So far I think I'm digging the Series position most, but I haven't played the bass with a band. My bands play mostly Rock with some Reggae, Funk, Blues, etc.

SR5 is always set to the bridge position. Never changes. I play Southern Rock and some country.

I play rock, and some praise an worship. I used to us the bridge and neck only, but lately Ive been getting some good tones wth the middle, a setting Ive never used until I got my new StingRay 5.

My attention span seems so short regarding choosing one setting and sticking with it.....but this is only the case for my Sterling and not my G&L L-2000

I just slapped some fresh DR nickel Lo-Riders and am really digging the Series setting with the bass just slightly boosted onboard (great tone to get that Tony Levin "clang" like on Peter Gabriel's 'Big Time'...only without the sticks on my fingers :D .)

I also love the bridge setting which I feel is the best slap/pop/ tone I have ever had. The middle I like for strumming chords, etc. I play all kinds of music, but am really getting into old-school funk and praise/worship music in which the Sterling can handle all very well. Overall, I would gander that the switch stays more in the bridge position more than the others.

I have only played it once in a band setting since I got it in March (bassplayer7770, up your way at the String Shoppe across O.S.U.), but it sounded great. I am looking forward to recording with it besides the Sound Recorder on my computer.

Oh....how about that 'to die for' neck, folks??? Sheeesh!! :D :D :D

The bridge position 90% of the time.I just fatter to me than any of the other settings.I like the neck position for a pick or some extra growl but it IMO seems to have less lowend than the bridge position.I don't use the middle position.

You guys have me checking my SR 5 out every position now. I guess it is the amp. cuz on the Peavey at home they all seem different. On the gig amp Laney I stick with the bridge.

Guess what? This world is for each of us as we see it.

We are all subject to change.

Towards the neck mostly cause it's fretless and the mids are nicer there. Towards the bridge when I don't wanna sound so fretlessy cause it's thicker down there. I never use the middle. I find all of the positions subtly different. If the switch broke and stuck on any one position, I could live with it.
