I'm new here, I'm primarily a drummer...but also play some guitar and a little bass, I have a Sterling SUB AX4. I've swapped the pups with DiMarzio Air Zone & Air Norton already, but I'm thinking about getting a Gotoh Floyd Rose. A friend of mine told me Gotoh makes the Floyd on my AX4 so not to bother. I've read that Gotoh made them for the AX40 model, but can't find any info on if they also make the one on my AX4. Any help or info would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!!

Sorry, that's a bit of misinformation on your friend's part.
Gotoh does not make parts for any of our Sterling by Music Man instruments. There are some parts that *interchange/upgrade* that are made by Gotoh, but that's about it.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thank you very much!! I appreciate the quick response. Another question...will a replacement fit without mods such as routing, and would you recommend an alternative such as a Floyd Rose special or GFS? I don't wanna break the bank on this thing. I'm into it for $340 already. I know here are tons of opinions, and I know
the Schaller and OFR are awesome.

tremolo system

I found a few Music Man Floyds on ebay and I bought them. They dropped into my sterling sub and the only problem that I had was with the finish when I drilled for the posts. The floyd went in 1,2,3 but the coating on the body cracked when I drilled.I just have to figure out a repair for the finish but the unit was cake to install.Just be careful when you order a trem unit.Make sure it is a real Floyd Rose unit.Remember that you get what you pay for.I have installed both the Name brand units and the cheap Floyd imitations, and it is such a pleasure dealing with upscale units.I didn't have to rout anything to install mine, like I said just drilled for the posts. If you can get ahold of a Floyd Rose Special, they are pretty good as well if you are looking to not break the bank.
