I beleive the guys in Avenged Sevenfold and Atreyu both play Sterlings (not sure on that).

The new guy in Atreyu uses a Ray. You're right about the bass player in Avenged Sevenfold though, hes a Sterling user. Lately hes been using a Dual Humbucker Sterling.

Lamerjay, as for which bass to pick, play both and see which one works best for you. I belive that EBMM's are the best basses around and work especially great for downtuning, which is why so many of these hardcore bands use em.

if youre 100% sure about wanting a single H id say you should get a sterling.

if you're willing to consider an HH combo (which id encourage you to do) then (IMHO) you're gonna have to play and decide whether the HH SR4 or HH Sterling suits you better

A good example is Show Me How To Live by Audioslave. Tim C strings his bass BEAD & on that sone he drops the E down to D,,,Why?....I would guess that is how Tom Morello wrote it & playing it not dropped D is pretty tough. Same goes for any CGCF tuning song played on a std tuned 5 string.

Show Me How To Live is not played in drop D-tuning. Timmy C played it in his regular BEAD-tuning. No E-string tuned down to D on this song.

Played a few more today at a different store and really liked the Ray 4 SH. I just love the tone and the simplicity of it. My current bass has tons of options and I like the way the SR4 sounded the way it was. Didn't take much to find a tone I really liked. I'm going to try again in a week or two so I can make the right decision...
