Hello!
I have a chance to buy !996 sterling with bassline pickups.
Deos anyone knows if the bassline pickup differs from the original one (tone for instance) ?
Why has somebody changed the original pickups for bassline?
As musicman basses have a good sound, what's the point in changing it?

As far as I know, the basslines pickups most resemble the stingray pickup, so it probably doesn't have the third coil that the Sterling has. They come with alnico or ceramic magnets.

It'll sound good, but probably won't sound quite like a sterling. Ask the seller if they still have the original pickup.

2 more questions then
1. As there are only 2 coils in bassline, would I have 3 different tones at 3 different switch positions?

2. Having the bassline pickup in sterling, would I have the same tone versatility as with the original pickup?

Basslines Suck!!!!

The ones I write usually do :) but I thought the SD pickups were supposed to be pretty good?

I've only had any experience with their guitar pickups, and it wasn't a bad experience by any means.

is it possible to get an aftermarket three coil sterling pup? or you just can get it directly from ernie ball? is not listed in the parts section anyway, is it some kind of special order?

not to mention pup cover... i guess that's impossible to get...
