Just wondering if anyone has any more info than http://www.stevelukather.net. I saw this guitar first on the video to Toto's "Cruel" filmed live in '99 at Yokohama. It looks like a natural finish Axis but has an S/S/S pickup configuration. Luke's own is also signed by Jeff Beck on the upper horn. Don't know if this will work but here is the image:

Was this ever a production run?

Ali,

I can't speak for EBMM, but I know that there are S/S/S Axes (As Jimi D pointed out) out there. They pop up on ScamBay every now and then and there are a few deals that still sell them as NOS (New/Old Stock).

Hope this helps a little bit, Glenn |B)

Ya, these were production run Sports early in the model's life... They were made for at least two years. Most of them have the pickguard attached, but the dealer could order the guitar with the pickguards unattached so that the owner would have the choice of installing it or not, so there are some S/S/S and S/S/H Sports out there without pickguards. I actually prefer the look of this model with the guard...
