Steve Morse neck

Greetings to all,

I'm new to the forum and looking at getting a Music Man guitar soon (maybe an early Christmas present to myself!).

I have been thinking about a Morse (Y2D or Standard), but I've never had the chance to play one. So here is my question...

How is the neck carve of the Morse? How would you compare it to the other MM guitars? For example, is it as large as the Axis? Or is it thin like the Petrucci?

I am probably getting a Morse, an Albert Lee, or an Axis. I primarily play blues and rock, so any one of those should be great.

Hello & welcome aboard !

The Morse neck is pretty standard : not thin, not wide ... just in between.
Before playing with an EBMM, Steve Morse used to play with a Telecaster with a Strat neck (from the 70's). I believe the Morse neck is pretty similar.

Thanks for the reply. I'm looking for a medium C shaped neck, so the Morse may be good. I tried the look, but I like a little more shoulder on the neck...the V would take some getting used to.

The Axis is cool and has a great neck, but the frets / rosewood / 12 inch radius on the Morse are appealing.

Ive had all three of (Morse, Albert Lee, Axis)
I don't see a huge difference in them, and think you would be fine with any of them.

Morse imho is closer to Axis than JP. So is the AL.

All are great necks, unless you are super picky, either one makes for a nice bed to lay it down in.

the Morse is very similar to a medium C shape (most commonly known on Strats) but waaay more comfortable! The heel is really where it blows other necks away, if your playing up high, just great.
