Steve Morse Relic Guitar

It's a fact that now guitars from the 70's are considered to be vintage, now. But what if i had a some sort of a time machine and go to the future and took my main guitar and for the next 20 or so years take it to the road with me, play it constantly. How would it be!? Well, fortunately Mr. Steve Morse is a true example and his No.1 is the proof! Just see his road worn guitar! It's amazing!

That's good fun, thanks for that. I have a black LP that's been beat-up for 20 years - I have many axes now, but nothing can replace the wear'n'tear of a trusty old friend. Now when I get my new EBMM (should be soon, waiting about 5 months now) I intend on giving it the next 20 years of abuse...

Interesting, though - I do play my Morse quite a lot (probably not as much as Steve, though), and drag it around wherever I can - and still You could not tell it's 17 years. I believe one of the factors is the old six bolters had different/less dense and thick laquer - at least that's a feeling I had on all of my six bolters so far, especially those from around 1986-1987.

Nice 'shopped photos by the way, gives you a great insight about how other colours would fare.

Yeah my 73 LP is beat to crap too. It's what we did - back in the 70's it was just my guitar for gigging with, not a closet queen. Paid for itself many times over so I'm not fretting

Yeah, I know what you mean about the 70's. I too, have a LP from 77, and till year 2000 it was still and old, but not too old guitar. Now, it has almost 40 years and still is doing great. I wish same for my Steve Morse guitar.

I'm loving the look of Thornley's axe - is that black on the edge's?. Great stuff......I'll probably pamper my SM (once it arrives) for a while....then that'll be it and I'll play the #$% out of it.

Would be awesome if Thornley joined in on the forum here - I have a few questions for him regarding.....everything....

Very cool photo shopping as well as an insight to what other colors would look like beat to death. But besides just hating the whole phoney concept behind the relic finish, this also is good cannon fodder. How would it look if two players are on stage both playing a Morse relic in different colors with the exact wear - ridicules.

Thank you man, was doing it just for fun. I used some old wood patterns, and some of it i drew by hand, on a really crappy mouse. But I would never "relic" my Steve Morse guitar, I'm gonna leave it for time and years and years to do it's work.
