Hey guys,

as mentioned before, I already ordered an EBMM SMY2d signature. Not that I know what the instrument will look like since Steve is still adding some personal touches to it, but I did already get some info on the price of the instrument. Maybe interesting for people who are interested in ordering one: it appears that the purple sunset color is also optional (maybe the other new colors also, don't know, and is about as expensive as the quilt top I ordered  ). Now, don't fall of your chairs guys, but the price tag on mine is 2780 euro (being 3600 dollars), but as you all may know, prices are always higher for all American guitar brands here in Belgium since we have a 21 % tax on everyting :( .

I just keep wondering, as Norm does, what the changes that are still on hold will do with the cost of the instrument? This is already a lot of money and I just hope that any additional changes will not interfere with the price tag. Even more, how can they give me an exact price while there is obviously still some work in progress on the instrument?

Now, don't get me wrong here: I waited about 11 months for my first Steve Morse signature (I really am a patient guy) and I never in my life played a guitar better than that one. So I don't mind waiting for the Y2d because I'm absolutely certain that it will knock me of my feet. It's like being in love, you think you know what it feels like, but actually, you don't, and still you want to try to grasp the feeling.

Nevertheless, it's very nice to see that there is some info popping up from time to time about the Steve Morse Y2d and people's interest in it is indicating that EBMM is yet again doing a great job. I don't want to rush things for the factory guys, one thing at a time is what we'll get and that's fine with me. It just feels good to write about it sometimes...

Hope everyone understands that.

EBMM guitars are amazing.

Thanks for listening guys,

cheers, Tom.

Tom,

Yes, talking about these guitars when they're on order does help the time pass. As far as Music Man setting the price before the final specs are decided... I would have to guess that the final tweaks being tested are not things that will significantly affect the price of producing the instrument.

Of course, if Big Poppa would chime in, we would know for certain.

But he's probably having too much fun dangling us on a string like so many marionettes.

Apparently the price has been determined. I asked for a quote from my local dealer, got one, and paid for it in full. Purple Sunset, upgraded quilt top, hardtail.

I called EB and talked to Dan about a week later to make sure that my local store placed the order correctly. I'm anal alright?!?! Dan verified that he has the order but that it's not in the system yet. They are taking orders and holding them until the production details are ironed out, then they will be put into the system for processing.

Now I'm gonna kick back and wait, and play my Petrucci and newly acquired Silhouette, which is one kick ass guitar!!! I'm in love all over again.

I don't know that it's appropriate to discuss pricing since we have a couple of dealers who frequent the forums, but for a comparison, it was more than I paid for my Petrucci but less than that PRS I once considered.

Fred,
It is amazing how everything you say is exactly what I would say. with a couple of exceptions. I never bought a PRS. Also I didn't call Dan. I let the dealer do that. Dan doesn't want to talk to me anyway. If he did he knows how to get in touch with me.

I too am concerned that there will be other options added to the guitar that may cost more money. If they do then:
1. I feel confident that we will be given the option without having to re order.
2. I will decide if I want it and, if necessary, pay for it.

90 Days from my order date is my birthday. That would be cool.
I can't wait to get my guitar!
Steve is right. Talking about it does help.

Finally a line from an unwritten song,
"Better done right than right now."

Tonights practice schedule is modes and metronome work.

Ooooh, that's scary, me and NorM on the same plane... Gotta be one of those planes we studied in Calc III that you can't see, but have to visualize and solve for.

If they come back and say that hey, you owe me $x.xx for this option, I wouldn't have a problem with that. I think it'll be worth the money in the long run.

I didn't buy the PRS, what a screw up that was. I ended up selling my BD Axis in the process. But the price for that was way more than I am paying for a guitar that rivals anything PRS has going looks wise. And I won't even go into the playability factor. That was the big reason I didn't go for the PRS. Losing my Axis was a hard way to learn a lesson.

Like I said I called Dan just to verify. It's not that I don't trust my dealer...

tick, tick, tick... Not quite as bad as the wait for the Petrucci though, only because I have something to bide my time with this time around.

The price will remain the same. The tweaks that we will put in place will not force us to change the retail price that has been set.

That's fantastic!

Can this be interperpertated as there will not be any other options available? From my memory, I recall all the options as.

Color:
De-Purple Burst
Purple Sunset
Tobacco Burst

(I still haven't seen pictures defining the difference between the two purple colors. When I ordered mine I defined it as, "The natural fading to purple finish".)

Floyd or Hardtail.

Luck of the draw or OMG figured top.

Matching Headstock.

Whether or not jon packs it with a burrito. :D

Thanks for chiming in.

I didn't realize that a matching headstock was an option on this model. Not that I care for them anyway.

I like the look of the natural wood headstock and would pay the additional to get it that way if I had to.

Great news on the price though! Thanks for the update. Any and all information greatly appreciated.
