Steve Morse Y2D question

I was able to play a Tobacco Burst Y2D Morse today. Question is why the

signature single coil p/u is positioned where it is. Was that a design that

Steve wanted? Does it have anything to do with how he picks guitar?

or just a look he was going for? Anyways very nice looking and sounding

guitar....Thanks

A lot of the time Steve uses that single as a way to reduce the output of his bridge humbucker. The height is quite low, and when he selects the bridge 'bucker in parallel to the single, he gets a cleaner tone. So gives him a way to quickly take some of the heat off.

Lol - I thought to myself 'Ah, I know this one!'....but Beej beat me to it! As he said, Steve uses it to reduce volume at the flick of a switch to let other solo's / vocals etc come through...
