Gregg Rolie was the original lead singer for Journey. They were more of a "Jam Band" before Perry. Journey was formed from members of Santana, so the music from pre-Perry Journey is about what you would expect to hear from them.

Wasn't Robert Fleischman Journey's second Lead singer? Not sure if he recorded anything with them but he did tour with them for a while, with a young Steve Perry (3rd lead singer) watching from the side of the stage....

Yes, you are techically correct. Fleischman was touring with Journey in, I think 1977. You could probably find some stuff with him on youtube. So to be accurate, Perry was the second singer that recorded with Journey.

I wonder if Schon would be open to an EBMM signature model? I know he's pretty tight with the LPs, but he has been known to play other brands.

Ever hear Journey’s new singer Arnel Pineda? Very eerie resemblance in sound to Steve Perry. Do a YouTube search and hear for yourself.

Schon has his signature model LP. I think he sold off a bunch of PRS guitars after he got his signature LP, including some guitars with which he recorded some recent albums. I guess he really loves that LP. It's hard to imagine him coming over to EBMM.

But if he did, that would really be something.

Check out their latest 2-disc DVD "Live in Manilla" with Arnel...great playing by Schon and Ross Valory on his MM bass.

The one thing you'll notice about his guitars is the additional swtiches. Maybe the "Game Changer" would be something he would be interested in. The biggest obstacle, I think, to him going with EBMM would be that he has traditionally played set-neck guitars. I know alot of guys who believe that set-necks are far superior in tone and sustain to any bolt-on guitar. I always recommend that they try an EBMM. I've never had a problem on an EBMM with "Dead notes" around the 12th fret, like I've had with some set-neck guitars I've owned.
