BD,
Are you from the area or just coming in for the show? I'd like to go but have other commitments with the kids this weekend. Should be a good time. Enjoy...

I didn't realize that. I work at the University of MD, Baltimore. Small world.

Are you going to the Morse show? If so you'll be rubbing elbows with me in the front row. :D

I came back to the states last weekend to visit some friends in asheville, nc and, of course, see VAI!

now, we all know steve is guitar god numero uno (even though he plays those godless samick - er... ibanez - guitars...) but the real joy of this tour is tony mcalpine, and billy sheehan playing with steve. dave weiner (blonde guy who seems to always be on tour with steve the last few years) is a bloody fine player too. billy and steve's interaction is absolutely fantastic. I had never been at a show where steve interacted with the audience as much as this one. he batted about with the band for a while when his wah pedal broke, then told a fairly long, off color joke involving the pope and a fish while he tech retuned his sustainer equiped jem. they played for 3 and 1/2 hours, so bring comfortable shoes.

That is the band I saw him with at the G3 concert in Toronto and yeah, they were incredible, I don't think I have ever seen that much virtuosity on one stage since I saw Pena, DiMeola and McLaughlin.

I have a couple of Steve's picks... No, you can't have any of mine... :p

I've tried using them, but I can't play any better than I do with a normal pick... :(
