I have noticed that the fretboard on my newly acquired Cutlass is "sticking" a little - I notice this especially when bending notes. It is secondhand, but in perfect condition, having been bought from a collector - it looks and feels brand new, and the fretboard does not appear to be dirty or greasy in any way at all - it all looks super clean in fact.

I think I am correct in saying that my Cutlass, JP6 and American Strat deluxe all have rosewood fretboards - please see pictures. The latter two's fretboards seem as smooth as silk to me.

What would your diagnosis be? Is it just the Cutlass has a different feel and it is a case of getting used to it? Or is there oil that is worth trying? It is not a big deal, just trying to get the new guitar exactly the way I like it!

Yeah al rosewood there. It might just need a good dose of lemon oil or a rub down with an Ernie ball wonder wipe. In your climate those boards will dry out much quicker. Also, unknown what previous owner cleaned with. Wait till other forum members chime in, but if not we’re me I’d give it the treatment noted, then re-string (hard to treat it with strings on). It’s not something I notice on Rosewood board cutlass and I wipe the fretboard down every string change with Ernie Ball Wonder Wipes. I do the whole neck actually
