So my band and I were practicing yesterday and I was using my new hh sr5 and it was undeniably obvious that this tone does not sound anything like my sterling tone in a band setting. The lows come through and you feel them but the warm cutting high end is not there. If i here any high end at all, it has a clicky nature. I then get my sterling and play for a bit and theres the tone Im used to, cutting through like always. Then i decided to put my sterling in parallel. It was much more similiar to the hh sr5, with the highs getting a bit lost in the mix, and overall the tone just sitting in the mix better without cutting as much/at all.

This makes me uneasy, just because I have grown to love the Series tone. Dunno what to do.

I also think that when I buy a new amp, probably the Eden WT550, my tone will be changed as well, which may or may not help this situation anyway.

Add a bit of midrange. Low mids in the 100-300 area. It sounds honky and nasal when you're playing alone but it is actually perfect when in a band situation.

I also think part of the problem is that our practice room doesnt have the best acoustics. Sometimes we move our stuff outside and practice, ill see if that helps when we get a chance.

I used to boost my mids, but lately i have the opposite. Flat mids and boost to treble and bass. I love my slap tone like this, but i guess if it doesnt cut i might have to sacrifice a little and go back to my old ways with the mids.

The eden's EQ system is amazing. All you'll need to do is boost the high mids and cut the low mids in certain frequencies. Other than that.... I don't know what to tell you, I played a single HSR5 and an HHStingray4 and the SR4 had a bunch more presence and like you described the HHSR5 the one I played seemed like it was all in the low frequencies but I believe the strings were old.

I changed my EQ a bit and boosted the mids in all sorts of ways, cut back the bass a bit as well. I keep the treble on my bass boosted but flat on the amp, not sure why I just like the way that sounds as well.

I think it should work better like this. I cant wait to get a new amp though, the Eden especially. The EQ is the main thing that attracts me to it, as well as the tube hybrid set up. I think I will run it through my avatar b212 until i get the money to buy a berg. The 2 ohm capability is cool too because I could run the avatar and another cab, even though the avatar is 4 ohm.

Hmm, well I'm not sure how the coil tap is done. Aside from that, i imagin it could be done.

+1 on the eden gear.

I played my Stingray5 for 4 months, every thursday night at my church's youth meeting, the last month and half with the Edem wt550 & 210XST. It sounded perfect. So close to the tone I've had in my head for years.

I would set the WT500 bass to boost 1 click, treble cut 1 click, mids left alone. On the SR5, bass boosted 90%, mid boosted 75%, treble left at 0. I almost always ran it in middle position pickup selector.
