Hi guys,

I posted earlier about tuning problems I'm having with the Silhouette Special, but I couldn't find it - so I decided to post a new one. Anyway, the problem is that the 3rd string goes out of tune (sharp), after doing even moderate dives with the non-Floyd tremolo. If I then do a simple whole step bend on the 3rd string, it goes back into tune. Someone here kindly recommended using Big Bend's Nut Sauce to lube the nut which I did, but it sadly didn't fix the problem. One thing I forgot to mention though, was that I did have those string-saver teflon saddles installed on the guitar. Could that have anything to do with it? Could the string be getting stuck on the bridge-side of the guitar? I would really appreciate any help as my lovely guitar is currently stuck on the shelf collecting dust, when it could be out there getting played.

Thanks In Advance

More likely not the saddles, unless you notice more string breakage at that point, I would think. More than likely it's catching in the nut. You may need to have the nut grooved/filed again to make it smooth or end up replacing the nut if that doesn't work. Sometimes the nuts get "over grooved" from lots of use and end up digging into the nut itself. If the sauce didn't work I would likely take it to a pro.

Sounds like nut binding... Like Norrin Radd said, you'll probably need the nut re-slotted or replaced... What guage strings do you use? Moving up a guage can result in nut slots that are too small...
