hey guys, I got my guitar plugged into Garageband, and I use the built in tuner, and I swear no more than 30 seconds after I tune everything I go back and most if not all of the stings are a little bit off. So I tune again, play a couple chords, then they slip a little bit out of tune again. Help?

Ok 2 things,

1/ Have you stretched out the strings fully? You gotta be pretty mean with those suckers! ;)

2/ I wouldn't rely on the tuner in garageband too much for accuracy. Use your ears and see if it sounds out of tune to you.

Good luck

sorry I forgot to say I have an Axis, so the bridge is against the body. My strings havent been changed either, and I ve had the guitar since probably october, but havent played the living **** out of it as you may think cause i got in a car accident and playing took a back seat, but not for long cause im back to it now, but still have not changed the strings. can this be the prblem? Also, when I look at the saddles or locking nut or whatever that thing is before the first fret, there seems to be a slightly larger gap between the fretboard and the metal part towards the g,d,b,e strings as opposed to the e and a strings. do you guys know what im talking about? this is a very small difference but i can tell that there is a difference.

i would change the strings and tune it with the lock nut off. then stretch the strings by grabing each string and pulling up on it a couple two or three inches three or four pulls should do it then retune it and lock the nut. just get the bolts snug dont over tighten them. the same amount on the bridge saddles to. dont make those supertight either . after that you lock the nut then retune, should just be slight adjustments and that should be it if it doesnt hold tune after that take it somewhere and have it looked at because it should stay in tune i cant make mine go out of tune no matter how much i torture it.

A little bit of graphite between the knife edges and the bridge posts goes a long way.

Big D,

sorry man I thought you would have changed the strings by now.

First things first, change 'em. I really doubt you will have any problem once you have new strings on there and they are stretched out properly.

If that doesn't solve things then maybe try some of the other suggestions posted.

Good luck.

BD, send it to EBMM (like I told you to do while you were down, ya nut job! :D) -- if you've been dealing with this issue since October, then there is something not right in that equation.

Sorry to accost you in public, bro. :p I am glad that you're out and about again... :)

ha hey man its no problem :D I just think I should put some new strings on it first to see if that could be it, but I think I am going to have to send it off :( My room also tends to go from hot to cold, could that be doing anything bad? or not hot, but its winter in bmore and my room isnt exactly warm but I havfe a space heater etc, so the temp can fluctuate...

...ick...could be an issue. Did you ever mention this, ya goof? :p :D

Try keeping it somewhere where the temp and humidity stays rather constant, and see how that works out...I would do it before changing the strings, otherwise you have to wait an extra 2+ days to let them stretch.

Let us know how things turn out with that, brotha! :)

i dont think its the weather i live in missouri and the temps change here more than my wife changes her mind. my guess is that something is dragging or slipping you should take it somewhere you trust to have it looked at or send it in to obi won jon .
