First time posting, Long time Fan! I've always marveled at the stingrays was a dream to have one in my earlier days. The moment I found "the one" at a music store in Nashville, a beaming light from the heavens shined upon it and I was instantly called to it as if the spirits of music within the bass were whispering my name. I didn't even try it out or plug it in. I made the purchase before any one could possibly realize I got too good of a deal and off I went. It was the best purchase of any instrument I've ever got in my life. In a room full of Bass guitars of all backgrounds, it has been my pride and joy.
However, as time goes on, naturally I have to make some repairs to the electrical components. I've done basic work on guitar electrical, put together some guitar kits, but this being such a nice instrument I don't want to dive in there and make it worse. I've sent out the bass to what was supposed to be a good instrument repair guy, but he botched it, my friend "knew a guy" and he didn't fix it either. I'm nervous to send it to anyone else who isn't vetted and tempted to do it myself, but nervous to do so.
Does anyone know of a good repair shop in the Portland Oregon area? Or perhaps is there a repair department for EB Music Man itself that I could send it to? The last option would be me going about it myself, in which case, is there advise on how to proceed?
The issue is I have lost all range in my e.q.s, and loose connection in my volume. No bass, treble or any tone adjustment can be made from my guitar. Only from my amp. It has a set tonal state and I have to do some wonky stuff with my amp to get the sounds and range I like. Also the pickups are hotter than they used to be and very sensitive to the touch (potentially a short?), it makes a little click sound when I touch the strings, more so when I turn up the mids and highs. I posted a picture of Aretha below for reference. Any suggestions or direction is greatly appreciated!!!!
Thanks all!
