Hi,

I'm using my stingray for 10 years now, and i never asked myself about this question because i always put full eq for bass and treble.

My question is how does the EQ works?

I read on musicmanbass.org the following :

"Although the Treble and Bass controls have no centre detent position, the pre-amps appear to be CUT and BOOST with respect to the treble control . On the other hand, the pre-amp is boost only with respect to the bass control."

Does it mean that if i want flat eq (no equalization ), i need to put the treble controls in the middle position and the bass control at 0? And then is it equivalent to play the bass in a "passive" way ???

Also, how do you use the eq usually ? (what is your favorite position for knobs)

Thanx a lot

PS : Sorry for my english, i'm french and also, sorry of my question seems stupid...

Welcome abord!

From what I understand the tone nobs are boost only, no cut. Unlike the three band brothers we dont have a cut feature.

Personally I like the EQ set with no boost. I find this give me a much clearer sound with out over doing the tone and muffling the pickup's natural sound. Oh course I dont have much set on my amp also. Pretty much like getting a good tone from my hands and not so much my equipment.

Thats just me. I really like my 2 band and I think Ill get another some day.

My new sterling is a whole other ball game in this department. That bass has many voices. I know they are not the same as the stingray but thats all I can compare it too. Unless you count all the guitar shops along the way.

Take care
