Hi there,

Just bought a second-hand 89 SR5.

I have a couple of questions regarding the spec, maybe someone here can help me:
- Schematics from the MM website mention that there's a phantom coil. I thought there is not. Am I wrong?
- Schematics say also that the coil 1+2 in parallel mode corresponds to the switch in the "near bridge" position. On mine it's on the middle position => Was the electronic of my bass modified, or is it an error on schematics?

Thanks !!

The schematic isn't wrong. If they had included the phantom coil on the '87 schematic, it would say "coil 1+phantom coil" for the middle position.

tatayeah I've got two Sr5's, a 1991 model with the 3rd phantom coil, and one like yours made in 1990. Feel free to hit me with any questions about the specifics of your bass.

On the 1990 bass, the pickup selector operates as follows when wired correctly:-

Bridge position = coils 1&2 parallel
Middle postion = coil 1
Neck position = coils 1+2 series
