This was a ground up instrument and we have taken heat from people all the time over our choice. It has not stopped it from being the number one selling USA 5 string......but actually the SR5 continues to sell very well and is an established classic of its own...

Thanks for this insight into the background to the SR5.

Like GW I always go back to the SR5 as my first bass (well in recent years) and it never fails to please.

Dave Pomeroy reviewed his early SR5 in his column in a recent Bass Player magazine and gave it a glowing review, with particular reference to the B string sound.

This was the first bass Dudley and I did. We were sort of taking over where Leo left off....but not really. We intentionally modeled it after the Silo because that was our work. We wanted to sort of make a statement and not just slap an extra string on the stingray and move on. This was a ground up instrument and we have taken heat from people all the time over our choice. It has not stopped it from being the number one selling USA 5 string......WE gave the people what they wanted in the sub 5 and the new classic series but actually the SR5 continues to sell very well and is an established classic of its own... It worked out

So what about having this great body design for a 4 string option ? As an alternate body choice on the 4 strings ? I do like the classic look but would be great for a choice . Thanks Ariel
