Hi and sorry should this have been clarified before. If so, please give me a brief answer and close this thread ...

I know that the PU type was switched from ceramic back to alnico in Feb 2008 for the SR5. But what about the SR5 HH? As far as I know the two humbucker models were issued before 2008. So have there ever been HH models with ceramic? And if so, were they switched to alnico in 2008 as well?

I would be interested in an SR5 HH but do not want ceramic PUs.

Thanks for the help.

Any multi pick up SR5 before 2008 should be ceramic. And they switched to alnico in 2008.

Altho the timing was not exactly simultaneous with the
intro of the Sterling 5-string, it was pretty darn close.

Except for the very earliest approximately two years of
SR5 production, the SR5 used ceramic PUs and was for
all intent and purpose not really an SR at all, but really
a Sterling, even tho the Sterling 4 was introduced after
the SR5. Around 2008 the Sterling 5-string came out,
which differed from a ceramic SR5 only by its PG shape
so it was finally time for the SR5 to become a true Ray.
That meant switching it to alnico PUs. Do not ask why
the uglee SR5 PG survived the switch over. That is not
a matter to discuss on the manufacturer-hosted forum.
