Hey all!

I've had a Stingray 5 HH for a little over a year now and as long as I'm using the first 3 switch positions closest to the neck, everything is thumping good. When I use the two positions toward the bridge, I get a significant drop in volume. Is this normal? I've never played a Stingray so I don't really have anything to compare it to. I'm hoping you guys can save me a trip to Guitar Center to see if their 5HH's do the same thing.

Thanks so much in advance,
Helgate

The neck H should be more mellow so should sound slightly lower in regards to volume compared to the bridge H.

If I were you I would take it to a tech because i don't think its normal.

No its not normal. Check your pickup height with EB specs, adjust if necessary. The HH should kill in whatever position you put it in. IF still not right, call CS.

Thank you all for your advice. I'll be calling / emailing customer service first thing this morning. I'm excited to get my bass sounding the way it should.

For posterity's sake, here's the outcome:

I contacted AJ at MusicMan who's going to sell me a replacement pickup so I can get up and running again. The only catch is that I have to first send them my defective pickup in order to be able to place an order for a new one. Hey, I would have probably ended up throwing it out anyway, right?

I'm pretty happy that I don't have to send them the entire bass and potentially be without it for a few weeks just to do a 15 min pickup replacement job.

All in all, I'm thrilled that Musicman takes such good care of their faithful. In the age of soul-less, pick-your-guitar-off-the-wall, "oh you're going to want an extended warranty with that" money grubbery, it's refreshing to feel taken care of without the nagging suspicion I've just been hornswaggled.

Thanks MM, and thanks to everyone who posted and got me pointed in the right direction.
