Hey Jibber,
Current SR5 does not have the phantom coil in either pickup configuration, on the single H version, the filter allows for a sound similar to a single coil sound in the middle switch position.
With 2 hum-buckers you have more variety of sounds, neck hum-bucker having a rounder tone due to its position on the instrument.
