Check out what I VERY roughly made in Microsoft Paint:

(sit back and just kinda let your eyes roll over it and it SORTA works)

Has anyone around here put a Stingray 5 pickguard on a Stingray 4? I think it could be done making a very close but modified replica of a Stingray 5 pickguard and using the holes from the control plate.

Does anyone think it looks cool?

P.S. I hope its OK if I took the pic from your site Davtran.

Why does the SR5 have the "bevel" on the edges, or the slant down to the sides? I can't really find the word for it, hopefully you know what I'm talking about. Is it just for looks or does it have some extra functionality or what?

The SR5's body is that of the Silhouette's, I think. If I recall correctly, EBMM wanted to do something different with the SR5 - give it a unique character (besides that extra string ;) :p). Including the different PG and p'up switch thingy, I guess that body design was also one of the choices to help the SR5 stand out.

its actually been done before...

if you grab a copy of the 2005 Hartke full product line brochure, you'll notice some pics from the Ernie Ball tour thingy that happened a few months ago - it was sponsored by Hartke

there you'll notice some pics of bassplayers with ernie ball gear - and near the back you'll find guy playing a stingray 4 with a 5'er pickguard - sort of abalone...with an AWESOME matching headstock (matching with the PG) - it totally rocks!!

if only i had a scanner... : (
