Hello,

I'm currently looking to get a MM stingray 5 string from an online store. My question is - Is there a way to buy pre-assembled pickguards for these basses? The bass comes in single humbucker but I've seen others with the H/H and even H/S pickup options. I guess the idea is to be able to add more tonal options by simply swapping pickguards. Not sure if Music man sells these or if they can be assembled for a quick swap.

Thanks

That's.....not how it works. You get one pickup option. Like Freud said--sometimes a pickguard is only a pickguard.

Like bassmonkee said, they come in different configurations, but it's not as simple as swapping out the pickguard. The basses are specifically built to that PU config.

That said, I think you'll be plenty happy with the single H.

yup........you take the pg off........the pups are still there man.......

...not to mention the fact that there will be no routing for the neck pickup.

FYI - I've owned a Stingray 5 HH for three years now and I use it 95% of the time with just the bridge pickup, the more I play it the more I realize that I could have just gotten the single H and been perfectly happy. Not that the other options aren't nice, there are some nice tones to be had using the coil selector switch, I'm just finding more and more that I like how the bridge pick up alone cuts through the mix and I can get a wide variety of tones by just changing my plucking (or picking) position/technique and slight changes to the EQ. Everything I need is in that one pickup. Just sayin...

I think people can stop responding to this thread. The OP hasn't even been to the forum since his first and only post. This appears to have been a very boring troll.

Thanks to everyone who responded. I got the bass and the single pick up totally kills!! I didn't realize it was just a pickguard.
