Hi I am new to the forum, my name is Alejandro Ilukewitsch, I am writing you from Caracas, Venezuela. I know is not nice starting on a forum asking for help, but I kind of screw up my stingray 5 electronics trying to change the pickup for a Nostrand and now I am completely lost. I am not going to ask about then Nordstrand but about the stingray preamp, is their any place were I can found the schematics of it and the coil selector, because of my sloppy hands I kind of solder were i wasn't suppose to, and connections that should be making contact are making contact now. My stingray is a 5 string fretless from 2004 approximately.

I will really appreciate all the help that you could give me, I did search before posting, but couldn't find a answer. Taking the bass here in Venezuela to an expert is impossible, so I have to fix this myself with the internet help. Right now the bass is without the pre amp and mic install.

i may be wrong, but i don't think they give out schematics of the actuall pre-amp? leastways, i haven't seen one. you might try getting in contact with one of the customer service guys. they're around here somewhere.

Obviously, contact customer service to get the exact info you need.

In the meantime, check out Gavin's site. On the preamp page, at the very bottom there is a link to "more preamp pictures". He has some pictures of SR5 preamps, that may give you at least one or two shots that can help you (it takes awhile for all the pics to load, but you can click on the SR5 preamp pics to view full size before the thumbnails load).

Stingray Preamp Info

Gav (Rod Trussbroken) may be along shortly. He may have some more things that can help you as well (that aren't on his site).

Thanks for the fast replies, I did look at the page but there was nothing that could really help me. I know were the mic cables should go, I took photos before changing anything, what I don't know is which solder lines should be making contact. since i made a sloppy soldering job, I am going to try to clean it and take out the solder, and then try and solder it again to see what happens. I am going to contact customer service tomorrow to see how they can help me. I imagine being an idiot and screwing up your own bass isn't cover by the guarantee, but maybe they can give me a hand and some advice, I did bought the bass new, so I am the original owner.

Thanks very much I really appreciate it, that was what i was looking for. You saved my stingray. :) Now I just need to be more careful, I think I might be better asking for help. Even thou I am graduating from electronic engineering at college, my soldering skills really suck, its a shame. You can find some pictures of my bass at the following link.
