Hi guys, I know this has kind of been covered before but I think I may have a problem. (It my be that im just stupid.) :D I have both a sterling and a stingray 5. To the best of my knowledge both are equipped with the exact same preamp. Both are setup pretty much the exact same way (pick up height string height etc.) However when comparing my stingray to my sterling the stingray 5's output is really weak almost like the battery is drained. I know this not to be the case because i have tried different batteries with the same results. Let me stress that this is a huge difference in output or thickness of sound. So my question basically is are the preamps the same? What are some other things I can check for to try to figure out whats going on? Or am I just over anylizing tonal defferences between 2 different instruments?

Thanks,

John

I haven't run across the output issue before, but the effect of each preamp is noticably different. When shifting into different modes, series, parallel, phantom, the difference is way more pronounced on an SR5 than on a Sterling.
