Well folks, if the FOC doesn't hijack my tax refund this year I will be combing the net for a MM SR 5. Can anyone tell me what year EB began installing the compensated nut on these basses? I will be looking for that feature on the next one.

Thanx

Hey Karl, good to see you around.I believe the compensated nut was introduced on the Bongos when they first came out and showed up on the rest of the lineup in 2005.......but I could be wrong:eek:

Randy,
Good to hear from you also............. I recently joined a cover band and the hipshot low D mechanism is getting a bit old. I must have played 100 5 strings in the past few weeks and the SR 5 consistently rises above the others.

My SR5 has a birthdate of August 2005 and it did not come with the compensated nut. It must have been soon after that the new nut became standard.

I have to say tho, I have no intonation issues at all and besides the cool look of the new nut, I cant see it being too important.

You may want to check out the 20th SR5 EBMM came out with this year. It looks and sounds amazing! Check out the link in the first post of this thread to catch a YouTube video of Ed Friendland rocking this bass!
