It says in the FAQ page that the pickup should be 4/32" to 5/32" from the top of the pole piece to the bottom of the string. My question is: is that with an open string or like some manufactures say to press the strings down at the last fret to do the measurement?
Maybe they meant with an open string because It also says "The factory specifications for the pickup height is 6/32" or 4.76mm from the top of the plastic between the pickup covers to the bottom of the G string."
Any way, After watching Sterling say in the Steve Morse Video that his signature model's pickups are set lower than most guitars for optimum performance.
What else besides the obvious happens if the pickup is set too high? Like amp clipping, pole pieces clicking against string. I was a long time Bartolini player before converting
to a Stingray 5 player and Bartolini always suggested to raise the pickup as close as can be 'cause of the weaker magnets.
