I have a bid on a Stingray on ebay right now. I asked the seller what year the bass was, so I could determine if it had alcino or ceramic pickups.
The seller replied that all SR4's have Alcino pickups. I am almost sure that is not true, but I'm having problems finding anything on which years Stingrays were made with alcino pups, and which years for ceramic. I was under the impression they recently made the change from ceramic to alcino for the 2009 basses.

Thanks

hmmm
under the same page as the serial number database, there is a tab for pickups and preamps, and it says 1984-current is alcino. Where am I getting the idea Stingrays had ceramic pickups at one time?

i think alnico has to be one of the hardest to figure out how to write words out there. i used to call it "alinco" and NO one would notice. you could probobly search the forum for alcino and alinco and get results.
