Stingray body needed

Hi out there,anyone know where I could get a Stingray 4 body?I want JUST the body because I want to refinish one and trick it out.
I could care less what color it is (it would be sanded off anyway) , if it has scratches, minor nicks and dents etc. Thats fine,but nothing like broken in 2, large chunks of wood missing,it needs to be restorable.
Or if anyone knows a website that sells them let me know,I have tryed Warmoth and they dont make Stingray bodys,and Ebay has been a no go (so far) as well.
So if you have a broken/beat up Stingray 4 and its just taking up space,depending on its condition and what your selling it for I might be interisted.

I had that idea a while back but I never got to do it cause stingray bodies arent easy to come by. If you arent too picky on what kind of wood the body is you could always get a cheap OLP copy. I believe theyre made of basswood as are Bongos. The only thing with them is that you might have to do some routing if you wish to put active electronics in, but otherwise I dont think its such a bad idea. Good luck

The OLP is basswood indeed,but I would like ash or alder woods.I havent had good experience with Basswood.
I wish I was near the shop,Id definatly check for 2nds!
I figure I might as well get a nice picture online and blow it up and print it out.I have a pretty nice bandsaw,milling machine, table router and a steady hand.Maybe Ill just build myself a copy..

Hey if you could pull that off it would be awsum. Might not be as difficult as you would think either. I know they do sell body blanks on warmoth, heres the link, check it out, you could make it a slab body instead of a countoured one, get the specs to a sub or older model stingray, then start sawing and sanding away, itll definatly take alot longer and will be alot of work, but it could be fun.

Ive built a tele from scratch before,its really not a big deal,just VERY time consuming.I was being lazy and seeing if I could score a body with out the big time work!
I am going to put a graphite neck(from Moses Graphite) on it so I really dont need to worry about neck stuff.I will though inlay some stuff into the headstock.
Warmoth is a great source,but I checked around and I can get a nice blank from exoticwoods.com for a better price.
I am going to check around for pictures,I do want to do slab though ,if Im going to build it.Please excuse my ignorance but what is a sub look like?Gotta picture?Thanks!

The SUB looks like a Stingray. Its the cheaper yet still kick ass version of the stingray, they cut the costs by using a few different parts and cutting a few minor corners, one being the contour body of the stingray, Im not positive of the specs of its body but Im assuming its the same size of a rays body, just in slab form. Check out the EB website for all the body specs.

Dumpster diving, although an Olympic event will not get you a 2nd body. We cut them up in many pieces so y'all don't make (Al) Frankenrays.

Jongitarz, I take it your work at the plant.Very cool,Id love to work building guitars all day,but I live in Illinois and there really isnt the chance(except at washburn,and they dont pay you very well) .So Im still working on my goal of being a paramedic at a fire dept.I can squeeze in a day or two to work on guitars in the future!Need make time to play as well though!!
Aside from computer work what do you do?

I think I might have washed them once since then, but I can't be sure. However, when your Bongo gets put together, it we be on Leo Fender's old workbench (mine now).
