I don't think so. Not that many people even know about them I love mine, it's the perfect 90s 3 band Stingray IMO. And it's pretty lightweight at 8.9 lbs.
They were made for Japanese market only, manufactured in Japan utilizing US parts, by Japanese EBMM-distributor Kanda Shokai. Something to do with cheaper import and revitalizing their industry/economy, which didn't make sense cost wise after 2001 or so (which is when the production of EX stopped). There's also a pre-eb version of Japanese Stingrays called Stingray XV. Those only have the "Music Man" logo on the headstock, and no Stingray logo.
Anyways, the EX I have is basically the same as the USA ones, with slightly different neck shape near the heel, and a combination of maple fretboard having a satin finish where the frets are, and Tru Oil finish at the back of the neck (instead of it all being tru oil). Everything else, hardware wise, are USA parts.
