I think you're right. Apparently it's quite easy to buy the decals.

Fortunately it's a lot harder to fake an MM than a strat. That, with the smaller market means that they're relatively rare.

Funny, I've ran into a company before from the UK that makes StingRay and StingRay 5 decals, but they don't have any "Made in San Luis Obispo" ones on their website. However, they also say that they can "produce any type of decal you require". The company states that they sell decals for restoration and give detailed instructions on how to restore logos and inlays. Believeable enough, but they don't really have any way to verify that the instrument that they are restoring is an original.

This guy obviously bought the decals and then VERY SLOPPILY applied them to the obviously fake Music Man neck (see dirt marks around decal sticker) and didn't bother following the instructions on how to apply the decal and make it look authentic with a process of sanding and finishing -- what am I talking about "bother following the instructions" -- this is a thief we're talking about here, why would they bother following instructions when they're just trying to make a quick buck?

Thanks for jumping in, forumites, and shafting this ebay auction! :p
