I have a 2005 SR4 and I'm quite happy with the tone, but I was wondering if there's some sort of mid-range adjustment in the control cavity? I've seen some pre's that have dials or switches to make minor adjustments before the cut/boost knobs on the bass.

Oh, and hello forum :p

No Sorry no inside adjustment, I think the Mid is curved very well, that's just myself talking, I was a 2 bander forever and now can't live without the 3 bands, Do some playing with your amp and see what you think.DJ

I thought I would have heard of an adjustment if there was one. I think it's more a cabinet problem. I have a 15" driver that sounds good, but I think a 2x12 will increase clarity and add nice low mid/mid bump.

Welcome to the Forum! I have dos 2x12 cabinets and they sound very nice with my Stingray. Good compromise between 10's and 15's.

Glad to be here.

Which cabinet do you have? I'm looking at either a Genz-Benz Neox 2-12 to match my head, or an Eden 2-12 XLT.

for years I have been begging for a 2x12 for bass, now everybody makes one. I finally got a SWR 2x12. I will probalby upgrade to the eden, though I belive its not a side by side but a diagonal config right?

The eden config is diagonal and eden's cabs all seem to be efficient. The Genz-Benz 2x12 is stacked vertically and utilizes neodynium technology.

One of the online music retailers just had a closeout sale on the SWR full stack 4x12. I was tempted to buy one and parallel all the speakers for a 2 ohm load, but at 100lbs I would want a roadie. I don't want to detail shipping headaches into Canada.

yeah, I am getting into 2x12s to get away from my refrigerator sized cabs. Heck a 4x10 is too heavy for me these days. A 4x12 would kill the old back.
(ther should be a mid 30's bass player back complaint thread)
My buddy Pat had a custom 2x12 made by, Meyer sound! I got to play through it once or twice and it was huge to say the least. Even more so with his Sterling. That was what initially got me on a quest for 2x12's about 10 years ago. problem is they dont make a lot of 16ohm 12" speakers that can do bass guitar. Most of them are built to go in a Marshall stack and give up on the bass at 80 hz or higher.

More on topic. what is the B00 preamp? Is that the original Ray preamp form the days of yore? I have seen it referenced on EBAY and one pre EB bass in a store.
