I bought a used Stingray 4 string black sparkle in almost new condition (manufactured in 2000). First thing I did was to replace battery. However, when I plugged the bass into my amp for test drive, EQ control does not seem to have any effect. Volume was weak and regardless which direction that I'm turning (boost or cut from center detent) I do not see a difference. Help!!!

Do you know how to contact customer service in this forum?

Thanks,

Had the same problem (same bass, same condition, same year). Turned out that I had used to much force when opening the battery compartment and ripped out the cables. All that was need was a soldering iron...

BTW, there are a couple of threads on this topic here on the forum :)

Also make sure the battery terminals inside your bass arent pushed flat down, that can cause the battery not to touch them, and result in your pre-amp not working. I had this happen once before, If you find the tabs are pushed down, what I did was take a very small flat head screwdriver, and lifted the tabs up a little.

Good luck

Yup this was indeed the fix for my problem. Actually I took the battery case out and pushed in the tabs an ireinstall the case. And it worked!!!! I am very, very happy!:)
