I tried yesterday my Ray direct in the ProTools environment, and through the Focusrite preamps and boy it sounded really fat and warm. However I'd like to get an emulated miked cab sound. I'll might as well try Amplitube. Is there a ProTools user out there that has a good bass amp plugin in mind?

Doooood! :D
Amplitube is ok but we just upgraded to HD1 and it's got the SansAmp PSA-1 card in it...... Oh My Gosh!!! It's amazing! I'm now addicted to distorted bass tones!!! :D
Other than that the Focusrite Red series eqs are insane to put anything through.

HD1? Wow I'm so jealous!!

Is it comparable with the 'real thing'(rack unit PSA-1)? I guess so......
When is there going to be a dedicated bass plugin?

I've never used the rack unit but if it's half as good as the plug in then look out! :D Not sure about the bass plug-in , but the PSA plus some eq-ing leads to very useful stuff. We were just tracking some stuff tonight and all I went through was the DI send of the U5 and my mic'd Eden210XST , sounds good so far. But ya, the difference with the HD is pretty wild..... hopefully this album will do something so we can get another couple cards!!

Now that is an interesting point you made. True music enthusiasts tend to buy quality gear that will result in better album sales not for the sake of the money, but to buy more and even better gear!!! Now is this addiction or what!

Which interface do you use for the Protools HD? Do you have a studio website?

:p

ya, what can I say  even though we've got one HD card we're still tracking to drums and not click for most of the tunes just because our stuff has a Neil Young "Rust Never Sleeps" meets Jane's Addiction type of feel and sound. As for the "true" enthusiast.... not quite sure I've reached that level of pretentiusness ......yet :D
For an interface we just picked up the 95 IO and are restoring/learning how to use a Soundcrast TS12 console. All good fun.
We don't have a studio site yet but hpefully by Easter we'll have some web space happening.
How are you finding the ProTools enviro? It is a blessing but it's also made me not want to comp my parts and really try to step my game up plus when I do get the odd calls to go in and do sessions else where it's far less intimidating.
