Stingray replacement PUs

Hi!
I play a 4 String Stingray tuned down to dropped H. And i`m not very satisfied with the sound I get. In standart tuning the Stingray sounds perfect but compared to a LTD Eclipse Bass in the low tuning it sounds like sh*t. The deep frequences are much too low and it produces some high frequences that just hurt.
So what do you think? The LTD uses EMG pickups. Will the SR sound better with other PUs?
EMG got some MM replacement PUs. Can I use them with the SR electronic or do I have to change the electronics too?

i believe in some European countries (including Germany, Holland ???) H is actually used to denote a particular note below A .. but I'm damned if I can remember what it is ... it's something like A flat (going backwars in a scale - rather than G# - going forwards) .. but don't quote me 'till someone who knows pops up.

Yeah, we call it H here in germany.
So, it is the low B.
5 halftones down on the e string. adg-strings each 3 halftones
and now help me with my problem :)
 
I recognize the H notation from reading up on Bach and his Canon's. Some interesting stuff he did. I'll look it up tonight and post it if anybody's interested.
 
Of course I play a 5-String set. The bridge and saddle are enlarged to make the fat strings fit in. Many Metalbands play 4 string basses with 5-String tuning. Thats nothing special I think.

They recorded with a sr4. by the way the sound that im lookin for...
I cant effort a new bass. Even if I could i won`t buy a new one. I just love my stingray with it`s birdseye maple neck.
 
Tech 21 RBI Preamp with a PA Poweramp.
Before that I had the preamp as an effect after an Ampeg SVT3.
the new Setup works much better
My cabs are some old Hartke with alu-speakers 115 and 410

You don't mention widening the nut slots. Is that done? Do the fretted notes sound better than the open strings?

You say you are detuned 5 semitones on the E and 3 semitones on the other strings, but you also say you use a 5-string set. You're not detuning a real B-string 5 semitones are you? That sounds impossible.

I assume you are tuned down those 5 semi and 3 semi relative to a normal EADG 4-string. So you ARE tuned C G#C#F# ? Some sort of open tuning? I assume such a special tuning makes maximum use of open strings? If so that returns us to the question of whether you filed out the nut slots.

The tuning is: CF#BE Open tuning for our lazy guitarists ;)
The nut slots are filed out. Thats what I meant with the modified saddle ;) (bad english)
Theres no difference between a fretted tone and the open one.

The B on the SR 5-er sounds amazing..best 5th string I've heard...
