I have recently bought a new stingray special 2018. While trying to figure out why I was getting some humming, I took the control plate off and noticed that the ground wire coming from the bridge is just floating in there, not connected to anything. Is this supposed to be soldered on to something? There is a spot on the circuit board that has solder but nothing attached and I was thinking maybe it is supposed to go there. I will be doing a gig tomorrow with it at a place that I know has grounding issues that give me a lot of humming and I would like to get this wire attached correctly before then if possible. I currently have it electrical taped to the underside of the control plate but it doesnt seem to be making a good connection and that is obviously not an ideal set up. Would anyone with a 2018 stingray special maybe be willing to open up their control cavity and take a look for me to see where that bridge ground wire is connected?

Normally the ground wire is just pinched between the bridge and the body.
Don't know if the new Specials are different.

The black wire that runs underneath the bridge, through the body, to the control cavity should be connected to the pad next to the red and black battery wires. The pad will be labeled BLK. I've attached a picture with the pad circled for you. You may also have a bare wire that is running from a lug mounted to the side of the bass's body. If you look at the control cavity cover, you'll notice the inside of the backplate has a bare spot where there is no paint or coating. That bare wire should make contact with that area. When your guitar was built, that wire was placed into that screw hole and held in place by the screw. When you remove the plate, the wire can pop out of the hole. When you put your control cavity plate back on your bass, you should put the wire back in the hole to be sure it makes contact with the bare spot on the back plate.
