Hi,

I bet this has been asked many many times, but couldn't find a topic regarding Stingray Special.
I have this beautiful 2020 Stingray Special bass which I love. I have been fiddling with pickup height but haven't been able to find the sweet spot with it.
What are the factory specs for single pickup version of Stingray special. Is it measured last string depressed and from polepieces or plastic cover.
My bass has flush polepieces so does it change anything?

Factory specs for the StingRay Special are (measuring from bottom of open strings to the pickup pole piece)...

Bridge pickup 6/32" (4.75 mm) on the G string side, 7/32" (5.5 mm) on the E string side,
Neck pickup 9/32" (7.25 mm) on both sides.

Remember, factory settings are as much for consistency leaving the factory as they are "suggested" setting. Nobody has your hands and ears. Spend a few hours playing with the factory setup and then adjust either the bass or the treble side to get the balance in volume across the strings that works for you.

Funny that in FAQ there's no such simple info like that. Only sth with 'parallel with pickguard' thing lol. They should give exactly specs of string height for all strings and neck relief too. 'Business card' can be anything from 0.010' to 0.020' or more and it's a lot when it comes to relief. Or...
Maybe you know exact specs? Could you provide ones? Big thanks in advance! :)

They wrote the instructions so you wouldn't need a set of feeler gauges to check relief. I have a set, and have NEVER used them for setting relief. I hold down the 1st and 12th fret, and tap with my pinky finger on the 5th fret. I want just enough so that it can be tapped.

I always thought that lowest neck relief is where there's no fretbuzz on first 5 frets. Of course I can setup it by feel - just until it stops buzz but still it would be great to back to "factory specs" or just know my own specs to setup my bass with them next time etc. I know that we have some repair guys and luthiers here so I wanted to ask how exact specs are for StingRays. Thanks.
