The SR4 guard is a direct replacement for a SUB4. However, the bigger pickup of the 5 string would be a problem unless you can make a tidy job of enlarging the hole. I don't know if the screw holes match up. However, with a bit of ingenuity all things are possible!

i want to change the pickguard on my MM SUB 5 string bass to a white pickguard, does the Stingray pickguard fit the SUB 5 bass ??

No it won't.

The SUB5 is a quarter of an inch wider than the SR4 at the last fret, plus it's got a larger pickup. The SR5 has an extra fret than the SUB5 as well as the different shaped pickguard.

Some companies will make a custom pickguard inexpensively if you send the pickguard, or a tracing to them.

Ah, the definitive answer from Dave. Looks like a custom job Charlie. Should be nice though!

I've never bought anything from him, but Brian Boots has a good reputation.

Today, I am putting my SUB 5 original pickguard in the mail to Sharp Concepts. I will post a review here when my new pickguards arrive. Google them. If this works, we will have a source for REAL diamond plate pickguard replacements for our SUB 5s (FINALLY).

Sharp Concepts has my pickguard now. If you're interested in ordering BEFORE I post my review, they are available now. Want a REAL diamond plate aluminum pickguard? They can make 'em now.
