I got a spare set of La bella black nylon tapewounds, and i might try them out on the stingray if it's worth the hassle (i know i am lazy). So whoever tried them out with a stingray, please share your comments - I play mainly classic rock tunes (led zeppelin, ac/dc, black crowes) and 80's rock (twisted sisters, guns and roses) stuff. In the past i used these tapewounds with a cheap six string fretless bass and the tone was horrible...

I'd be interested in the answer to this question too. I've got a set of La Bella's sitting there unopened and have yet to put them on any of my basses. At another forum a few people suggested they would go well with my fretless Stingray, however I'm already very happy with the TI Flats on that bass, so haven't got around to trying the tapewounds yet.

I never really cared for the tape wound strings or those nano web coated strings. I found they sounded muted out of the box and did not have the tone that I wanted. I thought they colored my sound too much. I ended up replacing them after a couple of shows.

I have used the LaBella taper wounds on some of the 5 strings and I liked them OK, but not enought to keep using them.
