I'm sorry If this topic came up before. I did search but could not find any info.

The Seymour Duncan website says about it's replacement PU for the Stingray 5H says:
Detailed instructions include optional mod for extending the frequency range of Music Man preamps (note: should be performed by a qualified tech - check warranty details).

What exactly is the modification?
Again........ Sorry for bringing up this thread that's probably been posted before.

ps. I'm leaving my girl stock:eek:

lets see, according to the eb website FAQ:

Our 3 band basses use a standard baxandall circuit centered appx. 500hz. Frequency slope is 6 db per octave. With bass control in max position, max output will occur at 40hz and drop at 6db per octave above 40hz. Maximum treble response drops at 6 db per octave at frequencies below appx.12 khz. Mid range is centered appx.500 hz. Control settings are interactive, therefore 6 db per octave slope only occurs when one control is in maximum position and the two remaining controls are set to minimum

So I'm guessing it would extend the range of each control giving you more ability to shape your tone. I am no expert here though

What is the modification? How much extending is done to the frequencies to the EQ? Can it be done with the stock pickup?
What modification is done to the circuit board?
Though I like my bass the way it is.......... Stock, just curious.

not too many folks here have the SD pups so i dunno if anyone will be able to tell u exactly what the mod is.

i highly suggest you check out the SD forum at: http://www.seymourduncan.com/forum/

you'll be more likely to "run into" someone who's performed that mod over on that board.

unfortunately, I'm gonna have to close this thread tho. youre asking about a replacement PUP for a MM bass but the question at hand isnt about an MM product, its about an aftermarket product; we try our best to keep this forum's content related to products made by MusicMan. one of those "fine line" kinda things - hope u understand.
